Discovery Platform team, as part of SPE (Software Product
Engineering) organization at Lilly, focuses on delivering
innovative, high-quality software solutions that drive business
growth and enhance customer experiences. It brings together
cross-functional teams of engineers, designers, and product
managers to build scalable, secure, and user-centric products in
the large molecule discovery space. The role within the Platform
team involves collaborating closely with stakeholders to define
requirements, design robust architectures, and implement features
that align with the product vision. This position offers the
opportunity to work on cutting-edge technologies, contribute to
strategic initiatives, and play a key part in shaping the future of
the Large Molecule Discovery. What You'll Be Doing: As a Software
Engineering Technical Lead, you will: Develop and drive adoption of
platform development standards and architecture patterns across the
organization Enable technical delivery of SPE software components
including understanding and addressing risk, privacy, cybersecurity
and legal constraints on project delivery Drive design of new
feature requests that are highly scalable and resilient. Align SPE
technical solutions with Lilly supported technologies Provide
technical evaluation of proposed project ideas, software changes
and future product releases. Drive the development and execution of
our platform innovation roadmap, including creating working proof
of concept models in new technology spaces directly connected to
future Software Product Engineering capabilities Mentor more junior
members of the technical team Build effective relationships with
key technical resources and architects to influence technology
solutions specifically related to Software Product Engineering
systems. Provide guidance to Lilly and non-Lilly software delivery
teams in best practice Agile delivery of software components of
Lilly’s platform Obtain and use knowledge of medical device
delivery models and quality system to ensure solutions align with
regulatory expectations and meet regulatory timelines Obtain and
bring to bear knowledge of Lilly business processes and technology
to ensure solution deliveries are consistent with the strategy and
roadmap What You Should Bring: Solid understanding of the AI space
and practices in modern software Ability to manage and keep control
of multiple software development and integration efforts.
Demonstrable examples of leading software design and architecture
Demonstrated ability to propose new ideas and influence peers
Proven initiative to learn new technologies and seek opportunities
utilize what you’ve learned Practical knowledge of Agile software
development concepts and associated implementations. Experience
with architected asynchronous systems, utilizing tools like Kafka
or similar. Experience with AWS, Azure, and other cloud service
providers Experience with identity management or authentication
providers (preferably Okta) Experience with GitHub Experience with
Kubernetes Experience with CI/CD capabilities and industry best
practices Experience utilizing Atlassian (Jira/Confluence) or
similar toolsets High level of intellectual curiosity, external
perspective, and innovation interest Basic Requirements: Bachelor’s
Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related
technical field 10 years of experience in Software Engineering
Demonstrated ability to program in multiple languages – including
at least one of Python or Typescript/Javascript Professional
experience in delivering software solutions that span the
development life cycle using best practices, i.e., design,
development, testing, deployment and maintenance Professional
experience of devops practices and container linux/cloud
environment Demonstrated ability in data modelling and querying
using SQL relational databases Additional Information: This
position is permanent, with location in the Biotechnology Center in
San Diego US. You will work closely with teams across the globe,
specifically UK and India, so some travel is expected (a few times

on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic
location. The anticipated wage for this position is $138,000 -
$246,400 Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a
company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual
performance). In addition, Lilly offers a comprehensive benefit

eligibility for medical, dental, vision and prescription drug
