The Senior Director, Corporate Communications leads internal and
external communications that drive Encore Capital Group’s global
corporate reputation, in alignment with business goals and the
company’s mission, vision and values . S/he is accountable for
developing and managing a global corporate communications strategy,
owning delivery channels (e.g., social media, intranet, website),
and leading the execution and measurement of programs spanning
stakeholder and media relations, employee communications, corporate
reputation and brand positioning, issues and risk mitigation, as
well as functional and executive communications support for the CEO
and members of the executive leadership team. Additionally, this
position leads Encore’s environmental social governance (ESG)
strategy and framework, inclusive of corporate social
In addition to strong experience in the financial services
industry, this individual is a proven leader with a high level of
comfort interacting and building trust with and persuading key
internal and external stakeholders. S/he is capable of
understanding and ensuring alignment with Encore’s business
performance and trust agendas and is prepared to leverage these
skills to both advocate on behalf of the company and act as a
trusted advisor and business partner to leaders across the
enterprise. Further, s/he is a strategic thinker with a desire to
drive corporate culture, engage employees and mobilize internal and
external stakeholders to advocate for the company. This individual
leads an international corporate communications team spanning the
U.S. and India, with indirect team members in Europe and Costa
Rica. This role reports to the SVP, Chief Human Resources Officer
Provide senior counsel to Encore’s executive management team and
Serve as a trusted counselor and senior advisor to the executive
leadership team by collaborating with leadership to identify and
evaluate opportunities to accelerate business performance through
Partner with executives to develop their communications
style/voice through internal campaigns and external stakeholder
Partner with functional and business leadership to manage
organizational communication and align communication activities to
overall corporate strategy while considering departmental and
business-unit objectives. Provide strategic direction, as well as
templates and communication plans for quality control.
Provide coaching and strategic guidance to executives ahead of
external speaking engagements and events.
Advocate for and represent the strategic value of communications
and the business impact it drives.
Serve as the lead communications strategist for Encore Capital
Accountable for development and execution of a global corporate
communications strategy that is grounded in data and insights
inclusive of market trends, new and innovative communication
strategies, competitor activity, and customer and public opinion
related to Encore’s business and the financial services
Lead a team to develop and execute proactive, creative and
coordinated global internal and external communications programs.
Ensure a cohesive corporate narrative that aligns with the Encore
Capital Group brand, market, priorities, mission, vision and
values. Develop and oversee Encore’s brand positioning and
Own Corporate channels and channel strategies, including
Encore’s website, social channels and intranet. Utilize existing
channels and identify new opportunities to complement traditional
communications strategies at the enterprise level.
Partner with Investor Relations to align external investor
messaging to employee and company communications. P artner closely
with HR to build Encore’s reputation as employer as choice and
drive employee engagement globally.
Manage corporate media relations ( local, trade and national
media ) and serve as one of the senior spokespersons for the
Oversee environmental social governance and corporate social
Establish and drive a coordinated global strategy, approach and
framework for Encore’s environmental social governance (ESG).
Oversee strategy development and execution of corporate social
responsibility (CSR) initiatives and ESG reporting.
Establish and build productive, positive relationships with
numerous external stakeholders to support business and ESG
Lead a high-performing Corporate Communications team
Mentor and coach geographically disperse direct reports through
creating goals and objectives that support the development of their
knowledge, skills and abilities.
Manage department budget and agency resources.
Bachelor’s degree in Communication, English, Political Science
or related field required.
Master’s degree in Communications, Journalism or MBA
Accomplished Communications professional with a minimum fifteen
(15) years of relevant experience, including at least eight (8)
years supervisory experience.
Experience in Financial Services is essential.
Experience working in a fast-paced, global, matrixed
environment. Strong awareness of regulatory and compliance
obligations of a public company. Experience working and living in a
country outside the US preferred.
Demonstrated experience working directly with and providing
strategic counsel to CEOs and top executives highly preferred.
Strong understanding of change management and communications
best practices and demonstrated ability to drive corporate culture
through internal communications.
Ability to think and plan strategically and tactically to
provide expert project leadership of integrated and global
communications plans. Excellent ability to manage multiple
priorities simultaneously. Capacity to identify and implement
improvements and innovations.
Proven experience successfully managing teams, leading project
teams and working with outside agencies. Possesses gravitas, high
EQ and the ability to adjust one’s leadership style for optimal
influence. Effectively collaborates and cooperates with managers,
peers and reports.
