Epsilon Systems Solutions Inc. is currently seeking a full-time Sandblaster/ Painter I in National City, CA. Summary: Is responsible for abrades surfaces of metal or hard-composition objects to remove adhering scale, sand, paint, grease, tar, rust, and dirt, and to impart specified finish, using abrasive-blasting equipment. Sandblaster starts equipment that directs blast or flow of abrasive-laden compressed air, gas, or liquid over surface of parts. Under general supervision, perform journey level work in the painting, finishing, and maintaining of a wide variety of interior and exterior surfaces and structures; may direct the work of other classified staff in the area; and perform related work as required. Applies preparatory appropriate materials in paint booth and irregular surfaces such as hulls, contain areas and tanks typically boat compartments and locations. Duties & Responsibilities Sandblasts heavy equipment, and sandblasting equipment. Cleans grease, dirt, dried old paint, and rust from equipment, using solvent, water, rags, brushes, pneumatic wire brush, and chipping hammer. Cleans and prepares surface for sand blasting, using air-powered sandblasting equipment. Applies paper and masking tape to protect unpainted surfaces. Disassembles sandblasting equipment and cleans equipment, using solvent, wire brushes, and dry cloth. May perform timed traverse or repeat adjustments or turntable movements or optimum positioning of moderate/large metal or nonmetal assemblies to determine the most extensive and/or precise nozzle openings. Possess knowledge of cleaning characteristics of brass corrosion resistant steel, aluminum, steel and other metal. Ensure that all established safety policies are administered and enforced in all areas and effectively practice the policies and procedures of the Health and Safety Program. Stirs paint, pours paint into spray container, and applies primer or finish coat of paint, using spray gun. Paints areas inaccessible to spray gun using airless to conventional systems. Required Qualifications: * High School Diploma or equivalent * A minimum of 3 years of painting or sandblasting experience. * Must have knowledge of angle and distance setting of blasting nozzles for objects having unusual shapes. * Must be able to interpret oral and written instructions in English. * Good communication skills Preferred Qualifications: * SSPC C7, CI2 and SSPC C14 preferred but not required ADA Notations: * Restricted movement * Air contamination * Dirty environment * Hazardous materials * Lifting or carrying heavy objects. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
