Job Description:

Master Staffing Solutions is seeking a highly motivated Communications Specialist! Our client is one of the largest defense contractors located in San Diego and we are looking for the right candidate to join their team as they keep expanding their growth.-- Primary duties:

• Serve as a subject matter expert for the Communications and Strategic Outreach (CSO) team
• Write and distribute compelling content for internal and external audiences
• Develop and maintain strong relationships throughout the enterprise through proactive outreach and in-person meetings
• Collaborate with other departments to develop communications campaigns that inform employees and build awareness of all business segments
• Collaborate with Human Resources to identify hiring needs and participate in hiring events
• Manage company emails, including writing original content and editing submissions from other departments
• Manage media inquiry responses; assist in coordination of one-on-one media interviews, press events and shipyard tours
• Write, edit and proofread content for the internal company magazine, manage deadlines, content calendar and distribution
• Assist in the planning and execution of internal and external compant events, volunteer days and more
• Manage the company's social media profiles, including posting compelling content, monitoring comments, engaging on behalf of the company and analyzing performance
• Assist with the company intranet, including regularly updating the homepage with emerging news and collaborating with the Information Systems Dept. to onboard new department pages
• Assist with managing the company website and job boards
• Monitor, track and report the performance of communication campaigns
• Collaborate with the Creative Multi-media Specialist to create compelling graphics and visuals that aid in communications
• Collaborate with the Communications Manager and C&SO team to establish strategies and goals for the department Skills/Requirements:
  • Minimum 3 years' experience as SME in communications, PR, journalism or related role
  • Strong writing, editing and proof reading skills
  • Strong understanding of the tools and strategies to execute a social media program
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines
  • Experience with Wordpress website management preferred
  • Experience in an in-house corporate communications environment preferred
  • Knowledge of Navy, prior defense/military or manufacturing experience a plus Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, journalism or related field
