-- WHAT YOU'LL DO AT GENMARK! You will reach throughout the organization to engage others, align, and deliver results in product development in GenMark's R&D team. Take on an active role and make a positive impact on developing numerous in vitro diagnostic (IVD) products through FDA and CE mark approvals to commercialization. Develop molecular diagnostics test products, reagents and procedures in a team environment. Perform experiments according to experimental protocols and plans. Make detailed observations, help to analyze data and interpret results. Assist in preparation of technical reports, summaries, protocols and quantitative analyses. Maintain and develop skills in molecular biology and company technology through reading of internal reports and scientific literature. Critical factors to success include:

• Responsible for the day to day running of experiments and data analysis in the assay development laboratory
• Responsible for carrying out work to Company standards, including documentation and accurate record keeping in order to support product development timelines
• Prepares reagents and solutions as directed, using appropriate procedural and documentation methods, including industry standard good laboratory practices.
• Performs experiments and data analysis under supervision.
• Conducts general molecular biology tasks, including PCR amplification of target sequences, DNA quantification, analysis by gel electrophoresis
• Analyzes and compiles experimental data and reports and records results in laboratory notebook.
• Represents work at meetings as required and proposes new strategies and methods to address immediate and upcoming technical issues.
• Interacts with other internal departments, as necessary, to plan and expedite project objectives
• Provides scientific support to permit completion of development and technology transfer objectives for diagnostic products.
• Assist in preparation of documents, including data summaries, reports, SOPs and procedures PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • B.S. or M.S. in Biochemistry, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Analytical Chemistry or a related field.
  • Minimum of four to eight (4-8) years molecular biology or biochemistry laboratory experience post-B.S. degree
  • Experience as a research associate with PCR (polymerase chain reaction) and molecular biology in an industrial setting.
  • At least one (1) year experience working within a regulated 510(k) or PMA product development environment - FDA, GMP, ISO, etc.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of scientific principles
  • Experience with experimental design, setup, data collection and analysis
  • Firsthand experience with biological sample handling, nucleic acid purification, molecular biology methods and techniques including PCR
  • Experience working with pathogenic bacteria or viruses
  • Demonstrated experience working with Design Control principals
  • Analytical experience with research data, synthesizing complex and diverse information
