Responsibilities

This Software Test Engineer role is primarily focused on supporting our CalAmp Telematics Cloud (CTC) product. CTC is cloud-based platform written in Java 8 that enables real-time decision-making at the edge by seamlessly connecting devices with enterprise applications. CTC encompasses a rich set of APIs and RESTful web services which provide unparalleled levels of vertical integration with CalAmp's broad portfolio of devices.

  • Hands-on participation in testing and certifying releases
  • Quickly develop product knowledge and apply this knowledge to create effective QA activities
  • Develop, document, and communicate test plan and strategy
  • Communicate test progress and review test results with appropriate teams and team members
  • Provide feedback on requirements completeness and testability
  • Represent team in various project meetings - planning, review, estimation, retrospective, etc.
  • Maintain and develop test cases, from change requests to new projects
  • Implement test cases into test automation tools where practical
  • Work with QA team, engineers, developers, architects, systems administrators, DBAs and product managers in solving new and existing technical issues
  • Participate in Project Planning, Design and Code Reviews
  • Measure and verify that software and host environment meet industry standard vulnerability benchmarks
  • Consistently meet project release deadlines
  • Champion in influencing early adoption of change initiatives
  • Inspires collaboration by building relationships with teams and team members, leads by example

Qualifications

Must Haves

  • 1-5 years of software focused test engineering experience
  • Experience validating API responses and performance
  • Experience with automation of test cases
  • Solid understanding of test processes and agile development methodologies
  • Experience with full quality management lifecycle for software application development, test and deployment
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage with diverse users and stakeholders across disciplines including remote and offshore teams
  • Strong organizational skills that reflect ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail while maintaining productivity under pressure
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or similiar

Strong Pluses

  • Experience troubleshooting UI performance
  • Experience with Robot Framework, SOAP UI, Selenium Webdriver, Jmeter, and other load and test automation tools
  • Knowledge of DevOps and configuration management tools such as Jenkins and Puppet
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and associated tools
  • Experience with issue tracking tools such as Jira
  • Formal training in testing methodologies
