Position Summary

The Model-Based Data Integration and Insight (MBDII) group is part of Applied Program Strategy in the Quantitative Sciences department Janssen. We enable the integration of data in models to help make decisions for the Janssen cross-therapeutic portfolio. The group uses models to build insight from data to empower decision-makers to efficiently develop better and safer medicines. We are looking for new team members who are passionate about helping patients and are excited about developing innovative models. The right candidate will be driven by curiosity, collaborative and have excellent communication and time-management skills

Principal Responsibilities

As a member of the MBDII group, you will work collaboratively with clinicians and statisticians to realize the vision and goals of MBDII group to ensure broader utilization of innovative approaches to improve development decisions using internal and external data sources. Through coordinated efforts involving clinical, operational, data science and regulatory areas, you will help build models using various methods including model-based meta-analysis (MBMA) to improve quantitative decision making at program and portfolio levels. Identifying an implementing innovative ways to integrate data and gain insight will also be an important part of this role. You will communicate results with clinical teams to highlight the insight gained from integrative models in clinical trials and development programs. You will also have the opportunity to participate in external collaborations and interactions (via associations, presenting at conferences, and publishing externally etc). All functional responsibilities will be carried out in accordance with applicable SOPs and regulatory guidelines. This role will also help process improvement initiatives and SOP/Guideline development

Principal Relationships
Reports to the Director Modelling and Decision Sciences
Works closely with Clinical Development Leads and other CDT members as well as members within Clinical Pharmacology and Pharmacometrics and Statistical and Decision Sciences. Will also work with external vendors as needed

Qualifications

Education and Experience Requirements:

A Doctorate (Ph.D.) or equivalent in Engineering, Statistics, Data Science, or related field with four (4) to five (5) years relevant work experience in drug development and/or applied quantitative methods for decision making is a plus, significant familiarity with scientific programming and simulation OR a Master's degree in Statistics, Engineering or related field with a minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience.

Required
Experience with modeling software, such as R. Deep understanding of statistical and other mathematical modeling techniques.
Great communication, presentation and time-management skills.
Ability to build and maintain collaborative working relationships in cross-functional environment.
Good sense of cultural sensitivity and diversity (cultural diversity). Ability to work in teams with people of various groups (e.g., biostatistics, clinical pharmacology, clinical, etc.) and fields.

Preferred

Sound knowledge of statistics and other modeling methods and their application in model-informed drug discovery. Experience with trial simulations to design and document adaptive trials and working knowledge of Bayesian methods. Stay current with the latest statistical methodologies with focus on trial optimization, simulation and adaptive designs. Experience and knowledge of Good Clinical Practices and regulatory requirements for clinical drug development, including the conduct of clinical trials

Proficient in written and spoken English.
Post COVID, ability to travel 10% of the time
