Job Description:
Special Needs Academic and Community Advisor Needed (San Diego and
Chula Vista) -Are you an energetic, dependable, and reliable
individual? If so, Aspire Community Services is looking to hire you
for our Academic and Community Advisor position. -As an Academic
and Community Advisor you will work 1:1 with young adults and
adults looking born with ASD to help them enhance and develop their
academic, work and/or volunteer skills.
Our participants are moderate to high function individual. Aspire
is looking interested in bringing you on to help our participants
develop and support the implementation and teaching of various
skills. We need some willing to help them live an integrated life
in their community. Each -participant -is -unique. We are looking
for an Academic and community Advisor who can use the skills and
knowledge they have gained to work with our participants both
socially and academically. -
A -typical day -with a participant -might include assisting them
-in leading an art activity, facilitating class in the community,
as well as helping the individual in obtaining and job or volunteer
opportunity. Each day can be different and fun! -

Diego) -Pay Rate: -$16.0/hour -Sign on bonus - $300 -(after 3-month
probationary period) -Other Duties and Responsibilities: -1)
Getting to know the participants quickly, assessing their goals
efficiently and formulating - -strategies to help them meet their
goals.2) Implement training and teaching skills as identified by
the individual and their team in community-based settings, job or
volunteer sites, college campus, and/or the individual's home.These
skills include, but are not limited to: budgeting, supporting the
participants at their volunteer/work sites, developing and
maintaining healthy relationships, communication skills, and
self-advocacy.3) Supporting individuals with their life skill goals
while maintaining a safe, comfortable and fun atmosphere as they
work toward improving their life. -4) Participating in community
activities with participants such as beach trips, museums, zoos,
games, etc.Skills/ Requirements: -HS/GED, acceptable driving
history & criminal background check, CA Driver's License, Reliable
Transportation and auto insurance, first aid/CPR. We are a Drug
Free Workplace.Required: - - High School diploma or equivalent and
at least 18 years of age or older. - Driving will be required with
the particular individuals being supported, therefore an insured
vehicle in working order, and a valid California Driver's License
is required - CPR and First Aid certification within 30 days of
hire. - Physical ability to climb stairs, walk for reasonable
distances, and lift up to 25 pounds
