Position SummaryThe Transcription and Subtitling Specialist is a key player at MediaNEXT - they are responsible for creating and preparing scripts from audio and video files that are suitable for subtitling, voice-over and graphics replacement.The ideal candidate will have the skills and experience that will allow them to ensure all deliverables are completely accurate and in accordance with client preferences before they are shared with our Translation and Media teams.This position will work with the Production team to expand Quality Assurance processes, with quality and efficiency always front of mind.Essential Duties and Responsibilities Transcribe and time-code audio/video content from scratch in order to create scripts suitable for subtitling, voiceover and graphics replacement.Confirm clarity of instructions prior to initiating transcription workflow.Review and correct client scripts and machine-generated scripts to match audio/video content with a strong focus on names, numbers, missing text, punctuation/spelling, adherence to instructions, timings, frame gaps, reading speed and sentence splitting.Use subtitling and transcription software and/or tools to produce scripts in the required format (SRT, Word doc etc.).Ensure multiple daily deadlines are met.Effectively utilize all appropriate supplemental materials (refer to client reference material, glossaries, etc.) or create or support the creation of supplemental materials, e.g. client reference material, glossaries.Research words/names/job titles/concepts using dictionaries, online dictionaries or search engines.Create timecoded scripts that 1) replicate videos' on-screen text/graphics and 2) are suitable for audio description.Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesTyping speed of 60+ words per minute.Idiomatic fluency in English, excellent written and verbal communication skills.Must possess strong attention to detail.Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.Ability to take the initiative to resolve issues in a timely manner.Strong interpersonal skills.Effective time management.Good communication skills.Proactive, can-do attitude.Education and/or ExperienceMinimum Bachelor's degree or its equivalent.Must have previous subtitling or transcription experience with audio and video files that are suitable for subtitling, voice-over and graphics replacement.Proficiency in subtitling software, e.g. Subtitle Edit, Aegisub, OOONA.1+ years of experience working in a transcription or subtitling role.MS 365 proficiency.Desired Skills and ExperienceGood understanding of accessibility in Media, e.g. closed captioning, audio description.TransPerfect provides equal employment opportunity to all individuals regardless of their race, color, creed, religion, gender, age, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by state, federal, or local laws.
