Job DescriptionMHS is a non-profit organization whose mission is

essential business. JOB SUMMARYThe Inventory Specialist maintains
storage units and storage manifests for the storage and management
of personal property recovered from homeless individuals. This
position prevents loss of client property by controlling storage
procedures and maintaining inventory records that are accurate at
all times. The Inventory Specialist will also act as the Outreach
Worker which will engage with the homeless population through San
Diego to provide services and linkage. RESPONSIBILITIES Reasonable

- Receive, store, and distribute personal property of homeless
individuals.
- Manage the review and release of personal property.
- Maintain a manifest documenting individual containers and
items.
- Coordinate disposal of property when applicable.
- Regularly perform counts on inventory to ensure accuracy.
- Maintain and manage a caseload of 50 storage containers.
- Notify management of issues that could impact client
property.
- Comply with all MHS and program rules, policies and procedures
including HIPAA standards. Outreach:
- Provide outreach to homeless individuals by engaging with them
in their communities and by providing referrals from other
community providers and agencies.
- Act as a liaison between community resources and the
client.
- Assist in placing clients in short-term emergency shelters and
coordinate referrals for Emergency Shelter Bed (ESB) resources for
the region.
- Collaborate with providers who serve homeless populations in
the region.
- Provide linkage and advocacy to ensure resources and services
are accessed in a timely manner.
- Complete all documentation as contractually required and in a
timely manner as dictated by program requirements.
- Engage with clients while they check-in their storage
containers.
- Provide support and engagement to clients and make appropriate
referrals to community providers.
- Initiate contact with clients as often as needed to link them
to community providers or re-engage them to services.
- Maintain a daily log of client contacts.
- Comply with all MHS and program rules, policies and procedures
including HIPAA standards. QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent required. BA/BS
preferred
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in inventory management or
related field
- Bilingual in both English and Spanish languages, required.
Ability to read, write, and converse in both languages
- Experience working with clients in recovery from substance use,
mental health, and/or homelessness, preferred
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and other
facilities related computer software
- Ability to work independently, effectively collaborate with a
team, and react appropriately to emergency situations.
- Knowledge of filing/record keeping and commonly accepted office
practices
- Ability to produce legible, clear, and concise written
documentation
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to problem solve and react appropriately to emergency
