The candidate will lead efforts focused on target validation, cellular assay development and mechanism of action studies for targeted protein degradation therapeutics in the areas of Oncology/Immuno-Oncology. The candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to advance drug discovery projects.SCOPE

  • Design and conduct in vitro and ex vivo experiments independently to validate new targets for targeted protein degradation
  • Develop cellular assays using various molecular, cellular biology and biochemical methods and innovative technologies to support drug discovery projects
  • Design and conduct studies to understand the mechanisms of action of protein degrader compounds
  • Lead or participate in cross-functional project teams and provide technical leadership in the areas of expertise
  • Collaborate with colleagues in the Drug Discovery Unit and other functional groups of DDS to advance drug discovery projects
  • Generate, analyze and interpret data in appropriate scientific context. Present data and project updates at cross-functional project team meetings.
  • Manage research activities at CROs
  • Document experiments and results in notebooks and in written scientific reportsDIMENSIONS AND ASPECTS
    • Demonstrates well-developed knowledge of related areas such as protein chemistry, cell biology and biophysics

              • Ph.D. in Molecular/Cell Biology, Biochemistry or a scientific discipline with 5+ years of postdoctoral experience and 2+ years of relevant industry experience; MS with 10+ years of relevant industry drug discovery experience
              • Significant understanding of protein degradation systems and target protein degradation as a therapeutic modality. Drug discovery experience in the field of protein degradation is desired.
              • Hands-on experience in oncology or immuno-oncology research is required
              • Extensive expertise in developing cellular assays, particularly protein degradation and ubiquitination assays, is required. Experience with CRISPR gene editing or high content imaging is a plus.
