Basic Function and Scope of the Position

Under guidance of the Sr. Manager provides supervision and guidance to San Diego Facilities Space Planning and MAC (Moves, Adds and Changes) team. Enhance employee experience associated to space management, common spaces and moves. Ensures site and employee performance are in compliance with global standards. Rolls out improvements and provides resolutions to problems.

**This position is an Onsite Role in San Diego**

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluates daily priorities and Service NOW internal requests
  • Supervises the performance of the team ensuring the business and customer needs are met
  • Ability to use advanced planning concepts and objectives to resolve highly complex issues and provide high level expertise and assistance to senior management.
  • Provide planning and strategic advice based on location, workplace and seating requirements
  • Deliver actionable plans after assessing the feasibility, cost effectiveness and other dimensions of business space requirements such as seating, meeting rooms, functional and other areas
  • Identify potential blockers in daily workflows, systems and other scenarios; advise on effective use and optimization
  • Stay updated on global/regional policies, regulations and business/market environments; communicate and collaborate closely with partner teams and stakeholders advising as applicable
  • Recommend, lead, and support process improvement initiatives in facilities and in collaboration with other groups
  • Ensures WI's and SOP's are regularly updated with most recent documents and information
  • Provides metrics and executes analysis used for decision making by upper management
  • Interacts with vendors and peers in all Business Functional Units to optimize systems and procedures and resolve space planning concerns
  • Acquires and maintains a clear understanding of the technologies utilized in Illumina's processes
  • Overseas budget and expense management for Space Planning & MAC. Includes procurement, processing of invoices and tracking budget performance.
  • Monitor and cultivate vendor/supplier relationships to ensure that they efficiently and effectively provide needed goods and services within budget.
  • In collaboration with Human Resources, oversee and direct all performance management, training, development, and job descriptions for all Site Services personnel.

    Preferred Educational and Experience Background
    • Requires a bachelor's degree in Project Management or business field
    • Must have 5 years related experience, strategic to tactical space planning preferably in a life sciences manufacturing environment
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
    • In-depth knowledge of Archibus Web Central (Integrated Workplace Management System) and Service NOW is a plus
    • Strong AutoCAD, Bluebeam (or similar technology) experience.
    • Demonstrated ability to convene and lead meetings to disseminate information and gather and verify data.
    • Strong organizational skills. Skill at organizing team's work and priorities. Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities and deadlines.
    • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
    • Proficient in use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, Powerpoint, Access)
    • Must have the ability to prepare and deliver effective presentations
    • Ability to analyze and resolve problems independently
