This specific role will be part of the Design team that supports the UnitedHealthcare business, which provides health insurance for Consumers, Medicare & Medicaid beneficiaries, and people eligible for subsidized healthcare through individual exchanges and the guest experience on As a Principal Designer, you will be the glue that enables better design through innovation, working on high impact consumer moments and solving the most complex and compelling problems in the healthcare space. You will design with and for our members and consumers, learn from and improve our community of practice and have a direct impact on health outcomes at the biggest scale in the world. You'll enjoy the flexibility to telecommute* from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. Primary Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with technology, product, operations, and business teams to uncover customer and business pain points, gaps and opportunities needs - then translating them into experiences
  • Participating in translating complex ideas into understandable concepts that evolve and enhance customer experiences
  • Make and guide effective decisions, explaining clearly how the decision has been reached
  • Advocate for the customer through collaborative design activities to influence others and build consensus through activities including, collaborative work session design and facilitation, rapid prototyping, and frame working. to strategically define experiences across touchpoints
  • Facilitate design workshops to build alignment between cross functional teams
  • Proactively seek out strategic partnerships across organizations at every level, build strong relationships with product, technology and other key stakeholders
  • Lead prioritization of consumer centric enhancements grounded in research and analysis
  • Partner with researchers to understand customer needs and define opportunities using various research methodologies
  • Design cross channel experiences to identify opportunities and solutions for improvement and experimentation
  • Strong presentation, storytelling, and facilitation skills
  • Ability to accelerate team efficiency and effectiveness by introducing & improving systems and workflows You'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in. Required Qualifications:
    • 5+ years of hands-on experience with information architecture, interaction design, ux design or graphic design
    • 4+ years of experience incorporating user feedback in the design process (user research, NPS, Voice of the customer)
    • 4+ years of experience building or consuming personas to inform design decisions
    • 4+ years of experience working in cross functional teams
    • 4+ years of experience presenting to and managing stakeholders
    • 4+ years of experience with any of the design tools - -Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, Figma, Axure
    • 2+ years of experience providing direction to other UX designers on a project Preferred Qualifications:
      • Experience and proven ability to work across a matrixed multi-tiered organization and deliver the best possible outcomes
      • Experience with Agile product development
      • Solid influencing skills across teams, engage stakeholders, facilitate conversations, manage differences and create buy-in
      • Solid strategic and systems level thinking
      • Excellent communication and presentation skills, including exceptional listening and consultative capabilities and writing skills

The salary range for Connecticut / Nevada residents is $97,300 to $176,900.
