General Summary:
This position, Senior Customs Specialist , will be a member of Import Compliance and Indirect Tax, which sits in the Tax Organization based in the US headquarters office located in San Diego.
This role will be primarily responsible for global import HS classification support of Qualcomm's chip and hardware products, ensuring the business groups comply with Global Trade and regulatory requirements. This position will work closely with program/product management, engineering, R&D, and other Global Trade colleagues to strategically drive and implement jurisdiction and classification processes throughout the product development lifecycle within these groups.
This role will also drive continuous improvement in processes and technology of import compliance, from identifying/solving complex classification challenges, to collaborating on remediation of identified risk areas / process gaps between the business stakeholders and Global Trade.

Minimum Qualifications:
--- Bachelor's degree.
--- 3+ years of Customs, International Business, or related work experience.
The ideal candidate will have the following:



  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Law, or related field AND 3+ years corporate, trade, or supply chain experience


  • Experience with, and ability to apply, the Harmonized Tariff Schedule definitions.


  • 1+ years' experience in classifying using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule


  • Customs Broker License


  • Experience in classifying semiconductor products and testing and manufacturing equipment


  • Experience with import filings and licenses


  • Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and process complex technical information to accurately determine classifications.


  • Strong project management and organizational skills, experience with Microsoft tools a plus


  • Experience strategically managing complex classification scenarios in multiple jurisdictions


  • Experience creating and delivering training modules to cross-functional teams and key stakeholders


  • Ability to influence and make an impact within a geographically diverse team.


  • Experience with assessing compliance risks in the business and developing proactive strategies to mitigate risks.


  • Ability to effectively interact with all levels of employees (from Operations to Senior Leadership).


  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills with the ability to interact and team with company personnel and external advisors.


  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to self-manage and balance numerous competing priorities.


  • Highly motivated, strong drive, and the ability to adapt and thrive in a fast-changing environment.

    Pay range:
    $77,000.00 - $115,000.00
    The above pay scale reflects the broad, minimum to maximum, pay scale for this job code for the location for which it has been posted. Even more importantly, please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Qualcomm. We also offer a competitive annual discretionary bonus program and opportunity for annual RSU grants (employees on sales-incentive plans are not eligible for our annual bonus).
