Mission Statement
The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical

Position Summary
Plan, organize and lead children's activities for the resident
children while their parents engage with programming on site. Lead
organized activities in the evenings, after school and weekends.
Summer activity planning. Coordinate with internal staff and
external stakeholders for holiday events.
Essential Functions
Passion for working with children, strong interpersonal and
conflict resolution skills, working knowledge of childhood
development, trauma informed care, and cultural competence models
of care.
Must meet all background clearance screening including
fingerprinting.
Must also obtain certification for The Salvation Army's Protecting
the Mission curriculum for child safety.
Obtain CPR certification within the first 60 days on the job.
Some computer skills are helpful.
Must be in good physical and mental health to meet the demands of a
busy childcare program.
Working Conditions
Ability to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist on an
intermittent or sometimes continuous basis. Ability to be able to
lift up to 40lbs. Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as
files, file cabinets drawers and reach overhead. Ability to operate
computer, fax and telephone. Extreme patience and works well under
pressure.
Minimum Qualifications
Ability to obtain background screening clearance
CPR Certification within 60 days of hire
Ability to keep areas clean and safe from hazards
Strong communication skills as coordination with other departments
including therapists, case management staff, and chaplains is
key
Ability to work in high paced, noisy environment
Prior experience working with children
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
Ability to multitask
Knowledge of the Trauma Informed Care Model
Ability to physically meet the demands of the children's
program
Desired working knowledge of childhood development process and age
appropriate expectations
Basic computing skills such as Word and Outlook email
