Join Takeda as a Scientist I where you will independently design and execute target engagement (TE) and pharmacodynamic (PD) biomarker assays from preclinical models. You will also identify and implement new assay technologies that have an impact on project advancement, assay throughput and/or assay performance. As part of the, Inflammatory Disease Research team you will report to the Senior Director and Head Celiac Discovery and work closely with preclinical pharmacology, DMPK and clinical biomarker and translational groups to develop integrated biomarker plans.

How you will contribute:

  • Independently designs and validates well-defined and controlled experimental procedures to measure pharmacodynamic, target engagement, and disease specific biomarkers in preclinical models and in human samples.
  • Exercises technical judgement in execution of studies and interpretation of complex results, initiates routine and non-routine problem investigation and recommends solutions.
  • Performs calculations and basic analysis on experimental results and develops hypotheses.
  • Utilizes a battery of in vitro assay technologies execute on pipeline programs including (but not limited to): MSD, ELISA, qPCR, flow cytometry.
  • Maintains responsibility for routine laboratory instrumentation and supplies, and maintains good records.
  • Prepares detailed protocols / SOPs that enable transfer of validated assays to project team members and collaborators.
  • Prepares and presents endpoint analysis to project teams.
  • Expected to organize time and plan specifics of project related work with oversight from manager.
  • 100% lab based at San Diego site.


    Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

    • BS with 8+ years research experience, or MS with 6+ years research or PhD (no post doc required).
    • Experience; in a scientific discipline of cellular & molecular biology, immunology, or equivalent.
    • Demonstrates significant knowledge of basic immunology, assay development and biomarkers.
    • Communicates and collaborates with colleagues effectively.
    • Knowledge in the use of common analytic software's including Microsoft Office programs and Graphpad Prism.
    • With latitude in specific areas, plans and executes experiments with appropriate controls; decisions have moderate to advanced scope and impact technical operations or project deadlines.

        Base Salary Range: $101,500 to $145,000, based on candidate professional experience level. Employees may also be eligible for Short-term and Long-Term Incentive benefits as well. Employees are eligible to participate in Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, 401(k), Charitable Contribution Match, Holidays, Personal Days & Vacation, Tuition Reimbursement Program and Paid Volunteer Time Off. The final salary offered for this position may take into account a number of factors including, but not limited to, location, skills, education, and experience.
