The CREW Operating Unit (OU) in San Diego is seeking a Chief Engineer (CE) to serve as the technical leader across our program portfolio. The CE will provide technical leadership across the programs within the OU and is responsible for providing technical oversight and team leadership for the development of complex military communications systems involving technical planning; system design and analysis; requirements development; and the allocation and communication of system requirements to hardware, software, and integration & test. The CE will be a lead contributor to the Counter Radio Controlled Improvised Explosive Device Electronic Warfare (CREW) team, working to ensure the logical and systematic conversion of customer and product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. The CE will work closely with the Manufacturing, Mission Assurance, and Global Supply Chain teams supporting production programs for the CREW OU technologies. The CE will work with the engineering team and the other disciplines demonstrating ingenuity, creativity, and resourcefulness to timely solve challenges that occur during the development and manufacturing of technology. The team is seeking a CE with experience in Communication System architecture development, design, implementation, and production to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals to meet challenging issues confronting national security. Qualified individuals must be flexible, self-motivated, hardworking and capable of working on agile programs, as they move through the system lifecycle phases of development, testing and deployment. The CE needs experience with Digital Signal Processing solutions solving increasingly complex problems, utilizing modeling and simulation in C++/ C, MATLAB, or other Model Based Engineering (MBE) environments; and performing work with minimal direction and oversight. Experience with prototyping advanced communications systems detection algorithms is also desired. In addition, the CE must be a team player, able to work comfortably and effectively with diverse team members as well as program stakeholders, suppliers, and customer representatives. Also, the CE will be required to support regular technical interchange meetings, on-site technical support, and off-site event support. The CE is expected to have a broad technical background and a proven record of success leading both small, and large, multi-disciplined engineering teams in the development and implementation of military communications systems. Experience with formal test and qualification efforts for military communications systems is highly desired. The CE is further expected to operate and lead teams in both laboratory and field environments. As the senior technical leader for the CREW OU, the CE will be responsible for mentoring junior engineers across multiple disciplines (HW, SW, and SEIT) and fostering an environment that encourage knowledge transfer across all levels of engineering.
