DESCRIPTION UCSD Department of Psychiatry is one of the most innovative and productive academic departments in the country, offering challenging career opportunities in the diverse areas of advanced educational programs, cutting-edge research, and state-of-the-art clinical services. The University of California, San Diego (UCSD) Innovative Mobile Hoarding Intervention Program (IMHIP) provides community-based services to adults over 60 with Hoarding Disorder. The program uses the Cognitive Rehabilitation and Exposure/Sorting Therapy (CREST) Community Program which includes a multidisciplinary team that provides biopsychosocial assessment, case review, family collaboration, cognitive training/exposure therapy, aftercare, and peer support. Under supervision, the incumbent will work as Peer Specialist in the UCSD Innovative Mobile Hoarding Intervention Program (IMHIP). Will acquire the skills to serve as a consumer advocate, provide consumer information, and provide peer support for clients in outpatient and inpatient settings. Duties will include provision of services in client homes and at the program office. The program provides services to older adults (60) with Hoarding Disorder. The incumbent will work closely and as a team with IMHIP and other program staff, including master's and PhD level clinicians. The incumbent will also maintain accurate and complete records; participate in program evaluation and research; learn to provide consultation to and maintain strong relationships with community programs; and under supervision, may learn to provide orientation, consultation and in-service training to students, staff, and law enforcement personnel. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Coursework or work experience in related area. Continuing education in related field. At least one (1) year continuous work experience with public contact where there has been a public service focus. Knowledge or experience in program content and objectives. Knowledge of how to deliver educational programs in a variety of settings. Solid effective reading, verbal, written communications and presentation skills to interact with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Strong writing skills so as to complete clear written summaries of contacts with clients and community providers and other required documentation and reports. Demonstrated experience in providing peer support services to clients with hoarding disorders. Proven experience facilitating skill building, motivational enhancement, and psychoeducational groups. Strong experience using business software systems in the completion of work assignments; i.e., Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint. Demonstrated familiarity with the CREST treatment for hoarding disorder. Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with colleagues, program staff, managers and supervisors, community providers from various disciplines, and law enforcement staff. Capacity to form an empathetic, constructive, working relationship with clients with co-occurring disorders, be friendly and personable, and be effective in communicating with clients with a friendly, professional and personable demeanor. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Bilingual/bicultural English/Spanish. SPECIAL CONDITIONS Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical. Must either have a current certification in alcohol and drug counseling or be working towards this. Must have a valid California driver's license, have a clean driving record for the past 5 years. Must be able to have a reliable transportation for work on daily basis, to meet clients at various community locations throughout the County to provide SBIRT and case management services. Regular evening and/or weekend hours required. Some holidays hours required. Willingness to work at various sites, including in the community.
