PURPOSE OF JOB
The purpose of the temporary Business Analyst IV job is to assume
responsibility for helping implement enterprise technology
solutions in a cost-effective way. This position exists to manage
stakeholders and partners to shape the technology demand among the
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides insurance and technical support to IT staff for the
implementation of enhancements, solutions, and maintenance for
- Analyzes and translates conceptual enterprise needs into
detailed functional specifications for the IT organization.
- Works to ensure the scope and impact of the request is well
understood and agreed to by all stakeholders.
- Works with Architecture and delivery teams to determine
solution feasibility, risks, and impact to present viable
- Facilitates and oversees design, development, and
implementation of software and hardware solutions, systems, or
- Facilitates with stakeholders and partners to quantify and
quantify business value.
- Facilitates robust solution requirements and expertise in
process & data mapping techniques.
- Contributes to continual process improvement.
- Ensures proactive, transparent communication between IT and all
stakeholders and Product Owners.
Brings solutions to business units supported to enhance the
enterprise's competitive edge.
- Suggests and incorporates new technologies and trends into
competitive advantage solutions.
- Leverages tools, diagrams, and models to ensure solutions are
well captured, thought-out, and agreed upon.
- Makes recommendations to IT and Business leader using
- Assists business in improving workflow and improving the cost
effective utilization of insurance systems.
- Identifies inefficient processes and procedures and provide
solutions for improving.
Understands the business and identifies technological trends.
- Acts as the Subject Matter Expert in the business unit(s) they
support as well as an understanding of the IT organization's
systems and capabilities.
- Identifies and establishes scope and parameters of systems
analysis in order to define outcome criteria and measure-taking
- Leads design sessions in prototyping new or existing systems
for the purpose of enhancing business processes, operations, and
information process flow.
- Educates the IT organization on the direction of the

practices and tools.
This role does not have direct reports, but may mentor and/or train
junior team members. This role will also function as the leader for
the BA Center of Excellence (best practices standards).
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; Information
Technology, Engineering, or related degree preferred.
Advanced Degree with Industry/Technical designations (i.e., CPCU,
ARM, and CBAP) preferred. Minimum 6 years of experience in a
Business Analyst role. Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in
the Insurance Industry.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
CBAP, ITIL, SQL, CPCU, ARM, CSM, or CSPO certifications
KNOWELDGE AND SKILLS
Must have the ability to guide, translate, and lead technical staff
members and interact with business stakeholders. Strong analytical
skills; Ability to create, share, and educate staff; understanding
of business complexity and project interdependencies. Ability to
quickly troubleshoot problems and partner with software engineers
and quality analysts to identify course of resolutions.
Ability to create and interpret user needs into specifications,
user stories, flowcharts, UML diagrams, etc. Highly competent in
reading, analyzing and interpreting technical industry-related
journals and DOI filings. Capable of coordinating and organizing
input from various stakeholders, negotiate priorities, resolve
conflicts, and build consensus; ability to apply insurance and
information system knowledge to assist business in improving
workflow and improving the cost effective utilization of insurance
systems. Strong understanding of basic system engineering,
object-oriented design, information risk and security guidelines,
and architecture standards.
Direct experience in Modeling Techniques: Object Orientation
analysis, UML (e.g. Use Cases, Activity Diagrams); in depth
understanding of the various software development lifecycles (e.g.
Scrum and Waterfall). Ability to articulate complex workflows and
functionality concisely and naturally; capacity to coach and
instill those abilities in the team; high level of business process
and technical aptitude, especially in the areas of application
design, integration, data analysis. Advanced knowledge of Excel,
SQL, and other analytical/visualization tools. Strong working
knowledge of API standards for communicating and integration
