Electro-Optics Technician

Job Description:

Under minimum supervision, build and test complex sub-assemblies for manufacturing.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Build and test electro-optical assemblies.
  • Maintain and set-up of assembly/test equipment.
  • Perform repetitive assembly and test operations to produce products.
  • Perform precision hand placement of small components.
  • Clean and inspect optical components.
  • Assemble and bond optical components.
  • Perform in-build test procedures and organize and document technical data required for acceptance.
  • Execute semi-automated test and alignment procedures.
  • Collect and enter data into the computer upon completion of production steps.
  • Red-line manufacturing MRPs with recommended changes (when necessary).
  • Participate in troubleshooting engineering issues.
  • Perform experiments, gather and compile data and present to a broader team.
  • Maintain integrity of all MRPs, SOPs, DHFs and other quality documents.
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies, quality systems, and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications
    • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in optics manufacturing and testing.
    • Minimum of an Associate Degree in optical related discipline preferred.
    • Strong knowledge of optics / photonics / laser system manufacturing methods.
    • Excellent manual dexterity and visual acuity.
    • Hands-on experience with handling small optics and fiber optical components.
    • Experience in the manufacture of medical devices and/or diagnostics, plus hands-on experience with process and design validation and calibration desired.
    • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects effectively and efficiently and be accurate, attentive to details, creative, and innovative.
    • Proficient computer skills and good working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs. Programming skills are desired but not required.
    • Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, outside contractors, and other professionals.
