Job Description:

The Senior Estimator will be responsible for the overall planning and management of estimating activities for utility-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) and battery energy storage (BESS) construction projects, including preparation, interpretation, and presentation of estimates.
Position Responsibilities and Duties:--- Review project plans, specifications and other Owner provided documents--- Prepare accurate quantity takeoffs--- Determine labor costs--- Prepare conceptual estimates--- Prepare detailed estimates--- Meet and maintain bidding and work schedules--- Review pre-bid estimates with Management--- Assist jobsite staff with estimates after bid award--- Maintain good relationship with peers, suppliers and subcontractors--- Supervise and train estimating staff (when applicable)--- Complete other responsibilities as assigned--- Location/relocation to San Diego, CA, strongly preferred in order to facilitate team interaction
Minimum Skills or Experience Requirements:--- Construction Management or Engineering degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience--- Minimum 10 years' Estimating experience--- Minimum 3 years' experience as a Senior Estimator preferred--- Ability to read and understand specifications and drawings--- Organization skills--- Critical thinking--- Ability to work individually as well as in a team--- Strong interpersonal and communication skills--- Ability to work in stressful situations--- Ability to manage multiple deadlines--- Ability to make accurate judgments and calculations--- Working knowledge of construction costs and principles--- Project management experience desired--- Strong background in the use and manipulation of Excel spreadsheets--- Working knowledge of Photovoltaic systems desired--- Working knowledge of Battery Energy Storage systems desired
