Production Supervisor Job Description SummaryProduction Supervisor is responsible for leading the day-to-day activities of the Filling Formulation and Packaging Departments. He/she should have a thorough knowledge of all of production processes in the Filling Formulation and Packaging. The Filling Formulation and Packaging Supervisor is accountable for scheduling training, review and approval of new documents and change requests. He/she will collaborate with the Logistics Manager to determine staffing requirements and make appropriate recommendations. Other responsibilities include: developing and implementing new departmental policies and processes, preparing monthly reports, and initiating, leading, and supporting continuous improvement projects. The Production Supervisor is also responsible for written performance reviews and assisting in the career development of his/her direct reports. RESPONSIBILITIES: Production Supervisor is responsible for leading the day-to-day activities of the Filling Formulation and Packaging Departments. The Filling Formulation and Packaging Supervisor is accountable for scheduling training, review and approval of new documents and change requests. EXPERIENCE & SKILLS: A minimum of 3-5 years' experience in a manufacturing environment in a lead role or in a position with supervisory responsibilities is required. Transportation/logistics and/or Packaging experience is preferred. Requires a demonstrated ability exercising independent judgment (by using strong analytical and problem-solving skills). Must possess hands-on experience with SAP and/or similar MRP / MRP II system. Knowledge and experience with production execution strategies and MRP is necessary. Must be proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and MS Project. An ability to work under pressure without sacrificing quality is critical. This position also requires strong multi-tasking, organization, detail attention and negotiation skills. Excellent written & oral communication skills as well as effective listening skills are expected. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Develop and implement all new and current department policies and procedures including departmental SOPs and Batch Records for all formulation and packaging functions. Review and approve all required documentation including Formulation, Filling & Packaging Batch Records, change notifications and SOPs. Manage departmental work schedule to ensure timely and effective execution of all Formulation, Filling/Packaging and daily operational objectives Prepare and initiate monthly reports to include required corporate metrics, project timelines and productivity measurements. Lead departmental projects and initiatives to include cost savings, inventory reduction, and process optimization directives and process improvements. Participate in the development and initiation of business strategies for the Formulation, Filling & Packaging departments to meet the goals and objectives of the business including staffing, equipment, and space requirements. Perform, maintain, and document routine training program for departmental employees. Participate in the development and optimization of manufacturing processes and procedures to optimize departmental efficiencies and maintain good product quality. Lead and foster the departmental continuous improvement programs (i.e. Lean, Six Sigma, etc.) by providing the tools, resources and support needed. Lead human resource management requirements including the interviewing and hiring of all departmental Associates as well as preparation and review of departmental employee annual performance appraisals and development planning. Ensure a high level of customer service to all internal and external customers including responsiveness and clearly managing expectations. Implements the company's Affirmative Action Plan as it applies to the function supervised. Monitors conduct and relationships among the associates supervised to prevent discriminatory acts or comments. Keeps abreast of U.S. and non-U.S. regulations affecting own area of supervision / management and complies with those regulations, practices and procedures to support regulatory compliance requirements. Communicates the need for compliance to members of own functional area. Brings regulatory compliance questions/issues to the attention of the next level of management. Ensures Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) training through facilitating the development and implementation of safety awareness programs. Implements scheduled department safety inspections and ensure corrective actions for identified hazards. Ensures EH&S policies and procedures are followed through education and training. Discusses and documents pertinent EH&S topics at staff meetings. Participates in EH&S programs. Ensure compliance to all business and departmental policies. Willingness to perform all production and direct labor functions if required. Performs other related duties and assignments as required MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS Experience in project management or supervision with an emphasis on resource planning, establishing and exceeding deliverable dates, and adherence to budgets. Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment by utilizing strong analytical and tactical skills supported by facts and data. Demonstrated hands on experience with SAP and/or similar MRP / MRP II system. Thorough knowledge of production execution strategies and MRP. Ability to effectively work with peers as well as manage up and down the organization. Demonstrated ability to motivate and develop individual contributor level and non-exempt staff. Ability to work in a faced paced environment while multitasking numerous projects and responsibilities. Exceptionally detail oriented and focused. Course work in business, accounting or management skills are helpful. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Project. Demonstrated ability to follow established policies and procedures. Effective oral and written communication skills. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Bachelor of Science degree preferred (Science or Engineering discipline) Minimum 3-5 Years' experience in a Manufacturing environment in a Lead role or in a position with increasingly progressive responsibilities Experience with continuous improvement tools such as Six Sigma, Lean, Kaizen, etc. preferred For certain roles at BD, employment is contingent upon the Company's receipt of sufficient proof that you are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
