SUMMARY
Provides for the analysis of inventory, identification of problems and processing of performance measurement data. Also provides corrective action recommendations, training support, transaction analysis, process analysis, data entry, plus other administrative.
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
The position reports to the Manager of Warehousing or his designee. Maintains a close and supportive working relationship with each Warehousing Supervisor.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES

  • Manages the department physical inventory program. Organizes and executes the process and procedures for each warehouse site.
  • Computes the results of the inventory; analyzes discrepancies, recommends corrective actions, and prepares formal reports on results including process analysis and trends. Processes inventory transactions that support receipts put away, issues and adjustments.
  • Identifies inventory related problem areas and initiates corrective actions within each area of the warehouse. Provides guidance and leadership within the department. Maintains department files and reports. Analyzes various exception reports, and takes action to resolve problems.
  • Supports departmental training activities including teaching, scheduling and record management. Writes or modifies departmental process and work instruction procedures as necessary.
  • Organizes and distributes company and department information.
  • Other responsibilities and duties as assigned. SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
    • At least two years of college preferred or career level studies in the field of inventory Management.
    • Reads and writes effectively; speak clearly and listens actively.
    • Has an understanding of inventory control methods, system components, and processes.
    • Uses mainframe and PC's effectively in all aspects of data gathering, processing, analysis, and presentation.
    • Thinks and solves problems; uses reference materials, organizes own work, and uses time and resources effectively. Able to investigate problems without causing interpersonal conflicts.
    • Commits to work, adapts easily to change, and remains flexible. Presents oneself in a professional manner at all times, and respects the diversity in others.
    • Provide high quality customer service without causing interpersonal conflicts. Provide high quality customer service to the warehouse departmental supervisors; gain and maintain their respect as a team player.
    • Must be a team player and support NASSCO vision, mission and values.
    • Actively participates in implementing and monitoring continuous improvement initiatives to improve safety, improve quality, reduce cycle time, and reduce costs.
      PHYSICAL DEMANDS
      Work occurs in both an outdoor shipyard environment and in an office setting. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus. Regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers, operate computer keyboard and controls, and communicate verbally and in writing.
      Requires ability to commute physically to various areas of the shipyard including but not limited to shipboard activities. Must be capable of ascending/descending stairs or ladders, walking on uneven surfaces, and transiting through manholes and other confined, congested spaces. Physical dexterity must allow for bending and reaching. Must remain alert and comply with all safety requirements.
      While performing the duties of this position, the employee is exposed occasionally to dust, fumes, and smoke. Must be able to spend up to 50% of time in an outdoor shipyard environment in all climates. The noise level is relatively low to moderate in office environments. The noise level in the outdoor shipyard production environment is moderate to noisy 70% of time, which may include sirens, horns, chipping, and hammering.
      Additional requirements: Position requires the ability to walk on scaffolding and work at heights aboard vessels under construction or repair, employees to carry, raise, lower, push or pull objects up to 50 lbs, and the ability to distinguish color.
      ACCOUNTABILITY
      Accountable for providing accurate, timely, and informative inventory analysis. Accountable for keeping all supervisors, and managers up to date on effectiveness of corrective actions. Accountable for inventory file integrity.
      Payscale: $ 48,200 - $67,300
      This pay range is a reasonable estimate of the salary range for this role. It takes into account the wide range of factors considered in making compensation decisions; including but not limited to skill sets, experience, training, and education.
