Description LocationThe candidate should be homebased within the western United States with the ability to travel extensively throughout the US.CandidateThe successful candidate is an energetic sales professional with extensive knowledge of the energy and utilities industries. Experience must include all aspects of the sales cycle including prospecting for leads, contacting potential customers, qualifying customers, product/services presentation, overcoming customer objections, and closing. Additional experience in other facets of sales include: Request for Proposal/Information (RFP/RFI) coordination and preparation; business development; investor owned utility, municipality, and cooperative purchasing practices; and customer relationship management. An extensive professional network of contacts within the energy and utilities markets, as well as a demonstrated track record with sales strategy development, execution, and reporting is a must.OverviewOur rapidly-growing firm, founded in 2009, has doubled in size in 18 months. The senior sales manager will help diversify accounts and expand 4Liberty's footprint within the energy and utilities industries. While the primary focus will be on energy and utilities, this role will also assist in growth within the government and commercial real estate sectors. The senior sales manager will work with the business development staff to help build and execute the sales strategy and tactics at 4Liberty. This includes using established relationships within the industry to generate sales opportunities; identifying sales opportunities using industry procurement solicitation systems; leading and managing RFP and RFI efforts; assisting in the development of materials that will be used during the sales process; assisting in the set up and implementation of our Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software application (Salesforce.com); and assisting with marketing efforts.Supervision LevelThis role reports to the vice president of business development. The work is highly independent; however, the successful candidate will be comfortable collaborating with and communicating with non-sales professionals, front-line operational employees, executives, and our board of directors.Typical Duties & ResponsibilitiesThe typical duties and responsibilities include:

  • Direct sales
  • Lead and manage RFP and RFI responses
  • Report on sales growth and progress
  • Manage and document sales contacts
  • Assist with marketing efforts
  • Assist in developing sales collateral
  • Attend industry conferences Position Requirements Experience & QualificationsThe successful candidate will have a combination of experience, education, and/or training which substantially demonstrates the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
    • Minimum of 10 years utility and/or energy sector exposure
    • Demonstrated industry-based year-over-year sales growth track record
    • Extensive knowledge of electric utility industry products and services
    • Knowledge of utility industry procurement systems and procedures (e.g. Ariba, Planet Bids, ProcureNow, Power Advocate, etc.)
    • Self-motivated, self-starter with excellent organizational skills
    • Superior written and verbal communication skills
    • Valid driver's licenseEducation & Training
      • Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Sales and Marketing, or equivalent.
      • In lieu of Bachelor's degree at least 7 years of sales and/or business development experience focused on energy or utilities.
      • Formal training in an established sales methodology (e.g., Sandler, SPIN, etc.)Physical DemandsPhysical demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
