life better for people around the world. The Protein Biosciences
group at the Lilly Biotechnology Center in San Diego is seeking a
motivated and detail-oriented mass spec scientist to join our
Protein Mass Spectrometry Laboratory in Antibody Discovery. The
successful candidate will contribute to the characterization of
therapeutic proteins using state-of-the-art LC/MS systems as well
as various stability indicating assays. This position is ideal for
someone with a strong foundation in protein biochemistry and
hands-on experience in an analytical mass spec laboratory.
Responsibilities: Develop and perform LC-MS and LC-MS/MS analyses
of bispecific antibodies, antigens, fusion proteins, peptides,
conjugates, and other biologics. Execute intact mass, clipping
analysis, peptide mapping, disulfide bond mapping, and host cell
analyses independently. Support structural elucidation and product
characterization. Develop and conduct antibody based stability
study and serum stability study using mass spec, cIEF, CE-SDS,
labchip, HPLC (SEC, CEX, AEX), and related biophysical techniques.
Perform high-throughput (HT) analytical screening assays using
Hamilton and other automated liquid handler systems for sample
preparation. Operate, calibrate, and maintain LC and LC/MS systems
(e.g., Agilent Q-tof and Tof, Thermo High Resolution MS systems)
and other analytical instruments (MAURICE, nanodrop, Lunatic)
Document experimental results in electronic lab notebooks (ELN) and
contribute to technical reports and presentations. Collaborate with
cross-functional teams including protein engineering, computation,
and various discovery groups. Basic Qualifications: A PhD degree in
biology, chemistry, biochemistry, or a similar field with a minimum
of 1-3 years of relevant industry experience (Post-Doc experience
accepted). Must have strong method development skills in mas spec,
CE-SDS, and cIEF Additional Skills and Preferences: Must have
experience with GeneData Expressionist data processing. Highly
organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated. Strong
communication and presentation skills with a collaborative mindset.
Willingness to learn and grow in a dynamic and fast-paced discovery
team. Experience with sample preparation for MS analysis of
proteins and peptides. Working knowledge of chromatography and
Agilent and Thermo MS instrumentation. Must be familiar with
Agilent Q-Tof, Thermo QE, Exploris 480, and Waters Cyclic IMS Must
have a strong understanding of protein/antibody structure and

on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic
location. The anticipated wage for this position is $133,500 -
$217,800 Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a
company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual
performance). In addition, Lilly offers a comprehensive benefit
