Job Description:
Position Information Dr. Tabea Springstein is seeking one
full-time Lab Assistant to begin on September 1st, 2025. The
duration for the position is one year with the opportunity for
renewal based on funding, department needs, and performance. Her
laboratory (Emotional Lives Lab - https://emotionlab.ucr.edu/)
studies emotion and emotion regulation in everyday life contexts
and across adulthood. The lab uses experience sampling and other
ambulatory assessment methods such as smartphone-sensing. The Lab
Assistant will be involved in multiple aspects of work in the lab
including participant recruitment and screening, data collection,
setting up and maintaining research protocols and data storage
systems, authoring posters for presentation, and authoring
manuscripts for publication. The Lab Assistant will also have
administrative duties, including managing teams of research
assistants, assisting with IRB and other documents, and maintaining
study databases and lab documentation. The position is ideal for
motivated individuals interested in pursuing an advanced degree in
psychology or related fields. The full salary range for the Lab
Assistant is $20.01 - $23.16 per hour. We base salary offers on a
variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and
certifications, experience, and other business and organizational
needs. Applicants must have current work authorization when
accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor
or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff. As a

Education Education Requirements Graduation from high school or a
General Education Diploma (Required) Bachelor’s degree in
psychology or a related field (Preferred) Experience Requirements
Minimum of 1 year of laboratory experience or two years of college
courses in the natural, physical or social sciences and laboratory
experience; or an equivalent combination of education and
experience; and knowledge and abilities essential to the successful
performance of the duties assigned to the position. (Required)
Undergraduate level statistics course and experience with
statistical analysis packages (e.g. Matlab, SPSS, R, Excel, etc.)
(Preferred) Experience recruiting or scheduling human subjects.
(Preferred) Experience collecting data from human subjects.
(Preferred) Experience collecting and/or analyzing experience
sampling data. (Preferred) Experience conducting independent
research in psychology. (Preferred) Minimum Requirements Strong
written and verbal communication skills Detail-oriented with
outstanding organizational and time management skills Demonstrated
background and passion for research experience in psychology or
related fields Preferred Qualifications Computer skills such as
programming experience in R, Python, or a related programming
language Proficiency in written and verbal communication in Spanish
Proficiency in conducting statistical analyses with R, or another
